Films, videos and stills (pre-approved only)

San Francisco Media Archive welcomes donations of primarily film and video, and some stills. As SFMA is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, donations are tax-deductible. All material donated to SFMA become the physical property of San Francisco Media Archive. SFMA will then safeguard this material for posterity, ensuring that it can be enjoyed for generations to come.

Donation with copyright

If the donor is the copyright holder, we ask that the donor donate the rights to SFMA in order that the Archive can provide the greatest amount of public access to the footage and the archive is able to take the necessary steps to preserve the work, screening and reproducing it without restriction.

Before you drop off or ship materials, please contact us by email at archive@sfm.org with a list of the items for donation for approval.

Once approved for receipt, we can arrange for delivery or shipment. Except in very rare cases, SFMA does not pick up items or pay for shipping. We are happy to do our best to be here as necessary for deliveries brought to the address (we have a freight elevator), and to receive shipped items and send confirmation.
